Accessibility Statement
Healthcare should meet people where they are. We are committed to making our website — and every service behind it — usable by everyone, including people with disabilities.
On this page
1. Our Commitment
Second Chance Community Health is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. We are continually improving the user experience for everyone and applying the relevant accessibility standards. Accessibility isn’t a checklist for us — it’s part of our mission to remove barriers to care.
2. Conformance Standard
We aim to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide array of disabilities, including:
- Visual impairments (low vision, blindness, color vision differences)
- Hearing impairments (deafness, hard of hearing)
- Motor and mobility impairments
- Cognitive, learning, and neurological differences
- Speech disabilities
Our website is also designed with consideration for Section 508 of the U.S. Rehabilitation Act and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
3. Accessibility Features of This Website
We have built our site with the following features:
- Semantic HTML — proper headings, landmarks, and lists so screen readers can navigate efficiently
- Keyboard navigation — all interactive elements reachable using the Tab, Enter, and arrow keys
- Visible focus indicators on links, buttons, and form fields
- Alternative text for meaningful images
- Color contrast meeting or exceeding WCAG AA ratios
- Resizable text — content remains usable when text is zoomed up to 200%
- Responsive layout that works on phones, tablets, and desktops
- Form labels clearly associated with inputs, plus inline error messages
- Plain-language summaries on key program pages
4. Supported Assistive Technology
We test our website with the following combinations to confirm it works for the assistive tools most commonly used by our community:
- Screen readers — NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, and TalkBack
- Speech-recognition software — Dragon NaturallySpeaking
- Browser zoom and OS-level magnifiers
- Operating-system high-contrast and dark modes
- Keyboard-only navigation
5. AI & Accessibility
We use artificial intelligence selectively to improve accessibility — never to replace human judgment. AI helps us:
- Draft alternative text descriptions for images (always reviewed by a person before publishing)
- Generate plain-language summaries of dense policy or medical content
- Provide translations into commonly spoken languages in our community
- Create captions and transcripts for video and audio
For more information about how we use AI across the organization, see our Privacy Policy.
6. Physical Accessibility of Our Clinic
Accessibility extends beyond our website. Our clinic at Unit 10 offers:
- Step-free entry and accessible exam rooms
- ADA-compliant restrooms
- Accessible parking spaces within easy distance of the entrance
- Service animals welcome
- Adjustable-height exam tables on request
- Quiet space available for patients who need a low-stimulation environment
If you need a specific accommodation for an upcoming visit, please call ahead or email intake@2ndchancenv.org so we can prepare.
7. Language Access
Care should never be limited by language. We provide:
- Spanish-speaking staff on site
- Phone-based interpretation in 200+ languages at no cost to patients
- Video remote interpretation for American Sign Language (ASL)
- Written materials available in Spanish, with additional languages on request
To request an interpreter, email info@2ndchancenv.org or mention it when scheduling.
8. Known Limitations
We are honest about where we are still improving. Current known limitations include:
- Some older PDF documents may not be fully tagged for screen readers — accessible alternatives are available on request
- A small number of embedded third-party tools (maps, scheduling) follow their vendors’ accessibility levels, which we monitor and push to improve
- Video content uploaded before 2025 may lack captions; we are working through our archive
9. Feedback & Help
We welcome your feedback on the accessibility of our website and services. If you encounter a barrier or have ideas for improvement, please tell us:
- Email: info@2ndchancenv.org
- Subject line: “Accessibility Feedback”
- Mail: Second Chance Community Health, Unit 10, Las Vegas, NV
We try to respond to accessibility feedback within 2 business days.
10. Formal Complaints
If you feel we have not addressed your accessibility concerns adequately, you may file a formal complaint with:
- U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Office for Civil Rights
- U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Rights Division
- Nevada Equal Rights Commission
We will support any inquiry and provide records as required.
Tell us how we can do better.
Every piece of feedback makes the next person’s experience easier.
